This position is open on a rolling basis and will be filled upon the availability of a suitable candidate.
Job Profile: This position is responsible for conducting needs assessments, developing Bills of Quantities (BoQs) for missing school facilities, solarization initiatives, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) interventions. The role also involves supervision and monitoring of construction and rehabilitation activities in the targeted project-supported schools across Quetta, and Pishin to ensure quality implementation, compliance with project standards, and timely completion of works.
Summary of Key Functions/Accountabilities:
The project focuses on improving educational outcomes for children from vulnerable communities. We collaborate with students, parents, teachers, community leaders, and relevant government departments to support the enrolment and retention of children in targeted schools.
Safe and secure school environments are critical to ensuring children's continued participation in education. The organization plans to undertake school improvement and needs-based maintenance interventions in targeted schools across Quetta, and Pishin. These interventions aim to enhance the learning environment, improve safety and accessibility, and provide dedicated facilities that support increased enrolment and retention of girls.
Key Responsibilities:
Based on the list of identified schools, contact details of responsible teachers/PTSMCs members, and the prioritized areas for improvement in each school, the Field Engineer – Repair & Rehabilitation will be responsible for the following:
- Conduct site visits and carry out detailed needs assessments of targeted schools. Prepare cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BoQs) for classroom rehabilitation, missing facilities, and other identified infrastructure improvements in coordination with the Head of Office.
- Assess the solarization requirements of targeted schools, develop cost estimates based on prevailing market rates, and monitor the implementation of solarization works.
- Provide technical oversight, supervision, and quality assurance for all repair, rehabilitation, maintenance, and construction activities at project sites.
- Monitor contractors’ and vendors’ performance, provide technical feedback, and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions where required.
- Ensure that all works are completed in accordance with approved designs, contractual agreements, project specifications, and organization’s quality standards.
- Obtain completion certificates from school management and PTSMCs, supported by pre- and post-intervention photographic documentation.
- Provide technical input and recommendations for infrastructure planning, design, implementation, and monitoring of construction-related activities.
- Coordinate closely with relevant government departments, school administrations, community representatives, and PTSMCs to facilitate smooth implementation of project activities.
- Facilitate and support monitoring visits by staff, donors, government representatives, and other stakeholders, providing accurate updates and technical information on project progress.
- Prepare and submit timely progress reports, assessments, and activity updates in accordance with organization’s reporting protocols and established deadlines.
- Ensure full compliance with organization’s Child Protection Policy and other organizational safeguarding standards to promote the safety, well-being, and protection of children throughout project implementation.

Representation: Represent organization at community level coordination meetings and ensure close coordination and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- BSc Civil Engineering or DAE Civil Technology or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
- Experienced in school repair & maintenance including solarization
- Experience in rehabilitation of WASH facilities
